The NUX Optima Air (NAI-5) is a dual-footswitch acoustic guitar simulator, IR loader and preamp in one pedal. It makes a piezo-equipped acoustic sound like a miked-up acoustic, or gives an electric guitar a convincing acoustic tone, with profiles optimised for your guitar and pickup type.

• 15 built-in acoustic guitar profiles (impulse responses), each tuned for a guitar type and pickup type, with IR level control.
• Capture your own guitar: profile-capture mode creates an IR of your favourite acoustic using a microphone.
• Analog-style preamp with Gain and 3-band EQ (Bass, Middle, Treble), based on NUX's physical modelling of a classic 1073 console preamp.
• One-knob reverb and 9 preset slots.
• Two footswitches: IR on/off and preamp on/off in Manual mode, or bank up/down in Preset mode.
• XLR DI output to go straight to a mixer or PA.
• Send/Return effects loop to add your other pedals into the chain.
• 3.5mm headphone output for silent practice and 3.5mm aux input to play along with music.
• Micro-USB for USB audio streaming (use it as a recording interface) and the editor software (load third-party IRs, rename presets, firmware updates).
