The NUX Optima Air is an acoustic guitar simulation and preamp pedal designed to convert electric or piezo-equipped guitars into convincing acoustic tones using impulse response (IR) technology. It combines acoustic modelling, preamp shaping, and DI functionality in a single stage-ready unit.

At its core, the pedal runs a dual system: IR-based acoustic simulation paired with a configurable preamp section. This includes a 3-band EQ, gain control, and onboard reverb for tone shaping. The result is a controllable acoustic-style signal suitable for live performance, recording, or direct PA connection.

A key feature is the ability to load or create custom acoustic profiles (IR capture), allowing users to emulate specific guitars or build personalised tone libraries. The pedal also includes multiple factory acoustic profiles tailored to different guitar and pickup types.

Connectivity is comprehensive: standard ¼” input/output, XLR DI output for direct mixing consoles, effects loop (send/return), USB for editing and IR management, auxiliary input for playback, and headphone output for silent practice.

Key Features:

  • Acoustic guitar simulation via impulse response (IR) technology
  • Built-in preamp with 3-band EQ and gain control
  • Built-in reverb (single-knob control)
  • 15 factory acoustic guitar profiles
  • User IR capture and custom profile storage
  • XLR DI output for direct PA/mixer connection
  • Effects loop (send/return) integration
  • USB connectivity for editing and IR management
  • Headphone and auxiliary inputs for practice use

A utility-focused pedal for players needing consistent acoustic tone conversion without switching instruments, with strong emphasis on DI and live performance workflows.
